In Tracker Episode 5, “St. Louis,” Colter Shaw faces a challenge as he endeavors to prove the innocence of a man whose salvation hinges on locating a mysterious eyewitness, who remains elusive. So, let’s find out what happens in the Episode.

Tracker Episode 5 Recap:

The episode starts with Colter Shaw heading to South Dakota for a vacation, but on his way, he receives a call from his handlers informing him of a job opportunity. The case and reward are posted by 16-year-old Stephanie Porter (played by Kudakwashe Rutendu), who wants to find a missing eyewitness who could prove her father has not committed murder.

As Colter listens to this, he decides to take on the case and help Stephanie and her father. He travels to St. Louis to meet Stephanie and her mother, Deborah (Played by Dana Wilson), where he finds out that Stephanie’s father, Clay Porter, is accused of murdering his business partner, ‘Avery’. Due to a lack of evidence and eyewitnesses, he is put in jail.

However, Stephanie adds that a couple of days ago she received an anonymous message saying that someone witnessed the murder. Deborah worries because during the case proceedings, they didn’t find any witnesses. Stephanie still believes and convinces Colter that her father has not committed the murder. Colter agrees and promises Stephanie that if there is an eyewitness, he will do his best to find them.

Again Teaming Up With Reenie:

Colter once again teams up with Lawyer Reenie, as this case involves a convicted person. Reenie, right from the start, admits that Clay Porter might be guilty and the chances of finding an eyewitness after a year are almost impossible. While Colter acknowledges that the chances are improbable, he convinces Reenie to help in this.

Colter pays a visit to Clay in prison to hear his side of the story. Clay tells him that Avery, his business partner, was running illegal poker games on the business premises, and upon discovering this, Clay was upset with Avery as it could jeopardize their business. However, he didn’t murder him. It further adds that as Avery conducted these poker games, he got mixed up with the wrong type of people. After confronting Avery, Clay went home, and then someone murdered him.

Colter Plays Poker To Find Clues:

After meeting Clay, he talks to Teddi and Velma to track the person who sent Stephanie the message. They find an address to a secret poker game, and Colter somehow gets in and plays a high-stakes poker game, but only Colter knows that around 8 pm, the authorities will raid the game.

Everything happens as planned, and Colter gets time to talk to everybody when in jail to find out, but not finding anything. He approaches a woman player named Leila Kent, and she becomes tense when Colter asks her about what she knows about Clay Porter. She says she doesn’t want to get involved in this, but she admits that she was the one who sent the anonymous message to Stephanie.

Colter tells her that he is not with the cops and only wants to find out about this eyewitness. She decides to tell him that a woman named ‘Mallory’ got back there and saw something, but as the murderer has seen her face, she fears that she is in danger now.

Clay Porter Gets Attacked In Prison:

Colter and Reenie once again return to Clay, who informs them that Mallory was Avery’s girlfriend. He met her a couple of times, and one thing he remembers about her is that she drove a green Dodge Challenger. As Colter relays this information to Teddi, she discovers that Mallory had sold the car in Kansas City, indicating that she might be there. While Colter travels to Kansas, he receives a message that Clay has been attacked in prison.

Colter visits Clay and his family in the hospital and informs them about his recent updates. Now, they must find Mallory as soon as possible to help Clay prove his innocence. While Colter travels to locate Mallory, Reenie visits Clay’s lawyer to inquire if he knows anything about Mallory. Reenie discovers that he is aware of Mallory because Stephanie has informed him about her. However, he is not interested in pursuing this lead as he is convinced that Clay is guilty and Mallory is nowhere to be found.

Find Out About Mallory:

Colter arrives in Kansas City and learns about Mallory from the mechanic to whom she sold her car. Initially, he does not disclose his knowledge of Mallory, but Colter cleverly uncovers her address. Upon reaching the address and entering the house behind Mallory, someone strikes Colter on the head.

As Colter comes to his senses, he finds Mallory and his uncle Max. They have tied Colter up as they know that Mallory is in danger. Colter explains everything to them, to which Mallory replies that Clay is innocent, as Avery was murdered by Cesar Ashford, who has a couple of cases in his name but never got convicted.

Colter tells Mallory that she can run her whole life, and the only way to start anew is to assist Clay and ensure Cesar is imprisoned. If he discovers her whereabouts, Cesar will too. Afterward, Uncle Max releases Colter, and Mallory resolves to aid Clay in proving his innocence.

Ending:

On the way back to St. Louis, Colter and Mallory encounter Cesar, but Colter cleverly damages his car so he can’t catch them. However, Reenie gets kidnapped by Clay’s lawyer, who is working for Cesar. The lawyer calls Colter to save Reenie, but in order to rescue her, he has to exchange Mallory. Colter realizes the only way is to get to the location and catch them, as they are tracking his phone.

Though Mallory panics at first but ultimately trusts Colter that his plan will work. Meanwhile Reenie talks to the lawyer, he admits that Cesar has bribed him to not prove Clay’s innocence. As Cesar arrives and threatens Reenie, they receive a call from Colter that they have reached the location. As they go there to exchange Mallory and Reenie, they find out that Colter has planned something, and as soon as they realize that, they get attacked by Colter and a fight between Cesar and Colter ensues. Ultimately, Cesar ends up over the terrace.

As the case is solved, Colter visits the Clay and Porter families, who thank him for helping them, and Colter collects his reward money. With Mallory free from the fear of being killed, she enjoys her new life of freedom. Meanwhile, Reenie and Colter go their separate ways, knowing they will meet again.
